Since before he founded Digital Chess Tutoring in 2012, Matthew Youngster was active and participating member of the chess community in Tampa, FL. Now, at the age of 20, he has been a part of the coaching community for more than 5 years and has played competitive chess for more than 7.
Matthew played in his first competitive chess tournament nearly 8 years ago, and is a current and active member of the United States Chess Federation (USCF) and holds a certification as a professional Club Tournament Director with the same organization.
Since discovering his passion for coaching, Matthew has worked with dozens of students over the years both in an online environment and an in-person one so as to further their growth and development in the game of chess. With students ranging in skill level from seeing a chess board for the first time to those playing in and winning chess tournaments, Matthew has built his coaching career on the sole goal of helping his students become strong, skilled, and prepared players in the game of chess.
Matthew is currently pursuing his undergraduate degree at the University of Tampa, where he studies Political Science and Pre-Law, with the aim of moving on to law school and a career in the legal field. His hobbies and other personal interests include participating in and coaching Model United Nations teams, studying and analyzing History, playing strategy games, and refereeing youth soccer.
